LED lighting
Description:
The difference in the amount of energy consumed by a regular ol’
incandescent bulb and a compact fluorescent bulb is huge. But the
difference between an incandescent and an LED is so big that it
prompted some states to considered banning incandescent bulbs
altogether. LED stands for light emitting diode.
LEDs are 10 times more efficient than an incandescent because nearly
all of the electricity they use is turned into light instead of heat.
And the benefits of lighting systems that use less power are not just
in saving electricity. Because LEDs use so much less, the wiring for
circuits can be greatly downsized, saving even more. And unlike CFLs,
LEDs don’t contain mercury.
Advantage to user:
More natural type light, cooler to run, last much longer.
Savings to pocket book:
Because LEDs use only a few watts to make light, lighting bills will be drastically reduced.
